Counselling Contract

A copy of our contract for you.

Paul Sanders adheres to the ethical framework provided by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), of which he is a member (Membership No: 957580).

Sessions

Our sessions together will last for 50 minutes and will begin at our agreed time. Late starts due to client lateness will be deducted from the session time. Due to other booked sessions, it will not be possible to overrun on the agreed time slot.

You, the client, will be asked to sign a digital version of this contract during your first session, along with providing emergency contact details and a background overview.

Confidentiality and Data Protection

All sessions are carried out in a confidential, secure environment separate to any other building.

All personal information is held in compliance with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Data is held by Paul Sanders Coaching Ltd and only authorised personnel within the Practice will have access to it.

Data that may need to be shared will only be disclosed where the Practice is legally bound to do so, or where there is a concern for your safety or the safety of another person. Any instance that may involve the sharing of your data will include a discussion with you before this takes place wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so.

Legal obligations that may require the Practice to share your information include, but are not limited to:

  • The Children Act 1989/2004 - any disclosure of child abuse where the matter has not been legally judged

  • The Terrorism Act 2000 - disclosure that you are involved in or aware of any form of terrorism or radicalisation

  • The Drug Trafficking Act 1994 - disclosure of any form of drug trafficking

Exceptions to confidentiality also apply where the Practice believes you or somebody else is at significant risk of harm. This will be discussed in session to ensure you are kept safe and may involve consulting with a relevant third party.

Paul Sanders engages in professional Clinical Supervision, which is a requirement for all qualified counsellors. Sessions may be discussed confidentially within supervision. Your supervisor will not know you by name and will only know you by your initials.

All notes and personal details are retained for six years in accordance with insurance policy requirements.

Payment, Cancellation and Refunds

Unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in advance, payment for each session is due upon booking via the Paul Sanders Coaching Ltd website.

Sessions missed with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full. Cancellations must be made with at least 24 hours’ notice. You may rearrange your session online up to 48 hours before the start of the session, or by contacting the Practice directly.

For Couples Counselling:

  • Both parties must attend for the session to take place. Non-attendance by one party will result in the full session fee being charged and the session not taking place.

  • Should one party leave the session before it concludes, the session will be ended and charged in full.

If Paul Sanders is unable to attend a booked session due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be processed or the payment carried forward to a future session. This will be communicated and agreed at the time.

This agreement is between Paul Sanders Coaching Ltd and you, the client. Paul Sanders, acting as director of Paul Sanders Coaching Ltd, is a qualified counsellor and coach and delivers all counselling services on behalf of the Practice.
